Birthdays you remember

As we get older we tend to conveniently forget our birthdays. Emma kept asking me why I wasn't having a party...and, for that matter, why her cousins were not invited. It's hard to explain to a five year old why grown ups don't really have parties every year anymore. Though I've had a nice birthday I got to thinking about birthdays you remember & I have to say one of the coolest I have ever had was my 20th birthday. I didn't do anything super exciting that I remember, what made it so cool was the fact that early that morning (before I'd even really woke up) my Dad & his wife at the time, Carol, called me to wish me happy birthday. I remember being a little irritated that they were calling so early & waking me up. What was that all about? You wouldn't think it was that big of a deal right? Wrong. The reason they had called so early (for me anyway) was because Carol had just had a baby girl & as my birthday present they were going to let ME name her! My sweet little sister Rachael Kristine & I share a birthday. It's pretty cool. Even though we don't see each other often & don't talk to each other all the time, she's still my little sister & I love her very much. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful baby sister. I love you & miss you & wish you all good things (and thanks for letting me steal your picture)!

Happy Birthday Krissy! I will never forget this special day, the day you were born. I woke up early feeling a pain and knew something was going to happen that day. I remember around 11:00 that morning I decided to eat something light so I ate some tomato soup. Little did I know at that time that tomato soup was going to be one of your favorites!!! You were born at 7:47 p.m. I always laughed later at that particular time. It reminded me of a 747 jet because you were always on the go. You were the most beautiful and happy baby girl. As you grew up you were always smiling and laughing and everyone loved you. You were so smart! Your Grandma and Grandpa Hillis adored you, as did I. You never forget your first child, especially one as special as you. I am so fortunate to have two special children, you and your brother, Michael, and I love both of you so much! So now, I wish you Krissy the most special birthday. I wish you only happiness and good things. You had a "bad weekend" and I'm so happy you are doing better, and things will get better. But then, you always seems to find the good in everything and everyone. You are such a special daughter and I want you to know on this day that I love you very much. God gave me one of the best gifts I could have ever asked for, he gave me you on this day! I love you, Krissy! Love, Mom xoxo
